The beast from the east

The beast from the east
invaded our shores,
kept us indoors and
depleted our stores.
Frozen held hostage,
kept prisoners in our homes.
Plagued with aching bones,
But weather is not the only treat,
whilst waiting out the storm.
ghost of cold war, poison
used as a weapon, revenge,
the only motivation.
The Russian bear awakens
and shakes his shaggy coat,
unfoils and cleans his claws,
venom dripping from his jaw.
our peace of mind is shaken,
duplicitous rulers, feed us,
misinformation,
fake news, that bruise
and manipulate the integrity
all nations
